When Breath Becomes Air is a non-fiction autobiographical book written by American Neurosurgeon Dr. Paul Kalanithi. It is a memoir about the authors life and his battle to fight cancer. This is truly an inspiring book.
I personally don’t prefer non-fiction books, but this touched my herat. He was an inspiring person. During his battle he was privileged to keep up with his work as an neurosurgeon.
Paul Kalanithi was an Indian-American neurosurgeon and writer. He was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic lung cancer. It was his wife who completed his book after his demise.
Through the book we can see how he has become a successful neurosurgeon and a better husband, son, father and fellow worker. He was named as one of the best neurosurgeon. We are also well aware about his sentiments towards his patients.
How can a person be so positive when death is haunting you? This question was haunting me every time I hear his name. Kalanithi wanted to bring a meaning to his life. Have I done anything that brings an inspiration to anyone or satisfaction for myself?
Another important role in Kalanithi’s life and book is his wife Lucy. She was always with him shoulder to shoulder during his good and bad times. She was proud of her husband and was always happy and sure about his choices. She helped him complete his autobiography.
He wanted to bring a meaning to his life. This is the proof he has brought the meaning. He is now an inspiration for many. Paul Kalanithi won’t be remembered or I wouldn not be writing this review if he wouldn’t have thought to share his life story with us.
I would personally like to suggest everyone this is a must to read one. Especially someone going through any kind of diagnosis. Find yourself how much worth is reading this book.
