Too Quick to Judge!
'First impression is the best impression'. I find this as one of the absurd statements of all time. Don't you think it is somewhat connected with judgement? No? Let me explain.
Some days back, I happened to watch a short film. It was for about three minutes. The short film had only two characters, both unnamed, a girl and a boy.
The film begins as a girl is seen sitting on a bench in a park drawing a picture of a woman. A boy comes and sits on the same bench and notices the piece of art she is shading. He appreciates her drawing and encourages her. But the girl is shown arrogant, not listening to what the boy says. The boy congratulates her for her art multiple times. Again, he gets nothing in response. At last, fed up, he starts yelling and leaves for jogging, exasperated. The girl notices his actions and understands that the guy is upset and leaves a note beneath his bag which he left behind. After a while, the guy returns and reads the note and is left dumbstruck. The note read: "I am sorry If I offended you, I am Deaf". The short film ends.
Now, here the first impression of the girl being arrogant was absolutely rubbish. The reason why he yells at her is just because of the preoccupied thought he had about her. We never know what people go through unless and until we step into their shoes. Still, the ugly habit of us judging others won't go. People forget to understand that Life isn't the same for everyone. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon or of every fortune. But, isn't that one's duty to embrace people of all sorts?
The theme is not new but rare. I haven't seen many people creating movies or short films about being judgemental. In this fleeting world, a great message to convey.
As someone said, " To judge others is human. To keep your opinion about others to yourself is having class ".
